Usability evaluation – expert review
An expert review is a relatively low-cost way of making your site or application easier to use. We use our experience building some of Australia’s best-known sites to evaluate your site or application thorougly. We produce findings, plus recommendations you can use immediately.
We can conduct our review whether you’re still in the early stages of development, or if you already have an established site or application. We evaluate:
- how effective the site is
- how useful the site or application is likely to be
- how easy it is to use.
What’s wrong, and what to do about it
- Understand what problems your users are likely to be having
- Understand why those problems are occurring and how much impact they have
- Find out what to do about it.
What we do
We can conduct this review as the first step in a design project or as an activity on its own, complete with a full report.
Our tools are:
- a set of guidelines called usability heuristics
- our experience with tens of thousands of users operating all kinds of sites and applications
- your knowledge of your customers.
Each site or application is unique, as are its users. We start our project by uncovering your business goals and your understanding of your users. We then review the screens you’re developing, or the existing site or application, to understand the users you’re targetting and the tasks they’re doing there.
Next we evaluate how well the site or application works and whether its presentation is effective. This leads to our recommendations for improving the user experience.
What you get
We present our findings in a findings report. This may be a highlight report, or a more detailed document, depending on your requirements. We can also give you a presentation. That lets you hear directly from our consultants, and ask questions.
